The Charges, Twice

A cease-and-desist letter from the administration’s counsel, and the grievance that followed it eight days later — four counts each.

And there is the matter of how the charges came. On April 29, 2025, the administration’s counsel sent a cease-and-desist letter listing four violations. Eight days later, a single Archon filed a grievance listing four counts — three of them naming the same conduct in different words: the same website, the same April 30 meeting, the same use of the Fraternity’s name and marks. I allege no coordination between them. I am setting the two documents side by side and noting only what is on their face — four in one, four in the other, eight days apart, and the demand letter first.

Side by Side

The two documents, charge for charge.

The Cease-and-Desist
April 29, 2025 · Counsel for the Grand Board
The Grievance
Filed May 7, 2025; noticed May 23 · A single Archon
The name, the marks, the title
Cease-and-desist“Unauthorized use of the Fraternity Marks”; “misrepresenting your authority to Fraternity members.”
Grievance, count 1“Unauthorized use of the Fraternity’s name, symbols, and title” — presenting as Grand Sire Archon; “misrepresentation of office.”
The April 30 “Grand Board” meeting
Cease-and-desistCease “representing … that you have the authority to call meetings of the Grand Board”; confirm cancellation of “the meeting you scheduled as a ‘Grand Board Meeting.’” — April 30.
Grievance, count 2“Knowingly conducting unauthorized activities” — convening the April 30 “Grand Board” meeting; “misrepresenting the meeting as officially sanctioned.”
seizethefuture.org and confidential information
Cease-and-desistThe “Infringing Websites” — seizethefuture.org by name — “display and broadcast … confidential information”; “improperly disclosed confidential Fraternity information.”
Grievance, count 3“Public disclosure of confidential Fraternity information” — “creating and launching the website seizethefuture.org”; publishing internal communications.
The charge each raised alone
Cease-and-desist“Misuse of Fraternity letterhead.” No counterpart in the grievance.
Grievance, count 4“Conduct inconsistent with Fraternity values.” No counterpart in the letter — and the one count the Committee declined to establish.

Four charges in the letter. Four in the grievance. Three of the grievance’s counts name conduct the demand letter named first — same website, same April 30 meeting, same misrepresentation of authority. The one count with no ancestor in the letter is the values count — the single count the Committee would not establish.

What the Symmetry Shows

The later document tracks the earlier. The demand letter wrote the grievance’s themes eight days before the grievance was filed.

I allege no coordination. I do not need to. Whether one Archon acted alone or not changes nothing that follows, because the charges fail on their own terms.

The Fraternity’s own Grievance and Complaints Committee reviewed these same charges and recommended no action on any of them. And the single count that did not come from the lawyer’s letter — “conduct inconsistent with values” — is the single count the Committee declined to establish. The one charge the grievance added to the administration’s list is the one charge with nothing behind it.

And there is the point the whole of this record makes. A grievance that faults a Grand Sire Archon for using the title, for convening the Board, for writing to the membership, faults him for acting as Grand Sire Archon — and so presumes the very removal still in dispute. Like the cease-and-desist letter it tracks, it stands only if the removal stands. And the removal never carried.

The Committee’s finding — that “no useful purpose” would be served by any action — is reproduced and dated in the challenge to the administrative suspension. Its report itself, dated August 7, 2025, is marked confidential and is not reproduced here; it will be provided on written request to the Office of the Grand Sire Archon, and upon his restoration declassified in full.
